Hope on Broadway Apartments is a planned 49-unit apartment complex located in the City of Los Angeles, California. It will be a 4 story built on a podium utilizing steel modular construction type IIB. The units will all be reserved to serve the chronically homeless in Los Angeles. Plans are in progress, and construction is expected to begin by late summer of 2019. Total project costs are estimated at approximately $18 million.
KTGY-designed Hope on Broadway features 49 residential units
In a ceremony held last week, Hope Street Development Group marked the completion of its latest modular supportive housing development - Hope on Broadway.
Located at 5138 S. Broadway is South Los Angeles, the project was built in partnership with Aedis Real Estate Group and Hoffman Management and Construction Corporation, and consists of a four-story building featuring 49 apartments on a corner lot. The housing on the second, third, and fourth floors is capped by a rooftop deck, while resident amenities and supportive services are located at street level.
KTGY designed the project, which is arranged around a central courtyard, and has a monochrome metal exterior highlighted by a perforated steel entry canopy.
“With this series of apartment buildings, Hope Street Development team continues to refine its unique technology with the potential to transform modular housing,” said KTGY associate principal Mark Oberholze in a statement. “Site work and foundations are done on site, while the modules – including customized interior finishes and fittings – are manufactured off-site and craned into place. As the housing crisis continues, these projects are efficiently delivering new residences and services to people very much in need.”
Hope on Broadway is one of three under construction developments from Hope Street Development Group, joining projects now rising in Hyde Park and Willowbrook. The same team previously developed the Hope on Alvarado apartments in Westlake.
